Adaku Ufere-Awoonor is an award-winning international Energy, Gender & Development Attorney, with over a decades experience leading multicultural and multilingual teams in the structuring, negotiation and implementation of oil & gas, power, gender, mining, infrastructure and energy policy projects in Africa, accruing up to 2 billion US Dollars.
Her sub-Saharan African experience is unparalleled, as she has lived and worked in Nigeria, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa, as well as advised governments and multinational, indigenous energy companies in about 27 African countries including; Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Cameroon, Mauritius, South Sudan, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sao Tome & Principe, Cameroon, Uganda, Congo-Brazzaville, among others. She has also lived and worked in the United Kingdom, with extensive experience advising public and private sector clients in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Adaku is currently the CEO/Principal Consultant at DAX Consult, a firm providing legal and business advisory services to global energy transactions; gender mainstreaming in energy regulations, policies and programs and facilitating the entry of international companies into the continent. She also handles digital communication, social media and brand strategy for companies helping them increase brand awareness and leads employee performance improvement training for several companies. Adaku sits on the Board of JBW Limited, an energy and tech solutions company operating out of Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Switzerland and Togo. As well as being a Co-Founder of Ronowa Global, a shared value enterprise which provides capacity building services to women and youth-owned energy start-ups in sub-Saharan Africa.
Adaku has an LLB from the University of Nigeria, a BL from the Nigerian Law School, an LLM in Oil and Gas from the University of Aberdeen, a Certification in Public Management from the University of California, Davis, a Certification in Energy Leadership from the UNISA Graduate School of Business Leadership, South Africa and a Certification in Gender & Sexuality from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

She is also an Accredited Mentor with the Women in International Affairs Network She is a respected international conference speaker and panelist, speaking at conferences in Equatorial Guinea, South Sudan, South Africa, the United States of America, United Kingdom, the Republic of Congo, Uganda, Ghana and Nigeria; and a prolific writer, with published articles in the field of energy, gender and project finance.
